Forthcoming N Gauge Wagon Kits

Kit 30 Gresley D113 Full Brake - Expected launch N Gauge Show in September 2008

The Gresley full brakes were introduced in 1924 and the later ones were still in revenue service in the mid 70s, and into the 80s in internal use. The design changed only slightly over the build period, mainly the bogies used and the type of trussing. The kit represents the later D113 builds from 1934 or the later D245/260 builds 1938-43.

These vehicles were used for a variety of traffic, including: as part of parcels trains; attached to normal passenger trains (and often attached and detached during the journey); and for racing pigeon traffic (some had additional fold-down racks on the inside for this). They could be seen well beyond LNER areas, particularly in BR days.

The kit will be complete with Gresley heavyweight 8ft bogies, wheels, rapido or buckeye couplings, and transfers for BR liveries (Crimson, Maroon, Blue). It is compatible with the Gresley coaches produced by Dapol.

Kit 33 Railtrack PNA twin pack - Expected launch 2008

In the late 1990s Railtrack converted 250 former tank wagons for use as open spoil carriers. They were painted in Railtrack’s green livery and coded PNA under TOPS.

44 of the conversions used chassis Gloucester pedestal suspension, and they were converted in three batches. The first 22 wagons were fitted with evenly spaced bodyside ribs, while the remaining 22 had a larger gap between the ribs above each axlebox.

The kit will be available as a twin pack and will enable one of each variant to be produced. It will incorporate plastic components for the body moulded in self coloured green, a one piece chassis in black, with wheel, couplers and specially commissioned transfers for the "Railtrack - Reneweing Your Railway" branding.

Kit 34 KPA Hopper, JJA/HQA Autobalaster - Expected launch at Warley in November 2008

The N Gauge Society's latest kit, for the Railtrack Autoballaster and Tiphook hopper, is nearing the end of development. These latest photographs show progress so far. The model will be available in various versions; enabling modellers to produce the original Tiphook hoppers of the late 1980s-1990s, the original Autoballaster conversions from 1998 onwards, or the new-build Autoballasters for Railtrack and Network Rail.

We are still awaiting the decals for this model; the sheets shown in the photographs are mock-up prints from original artwork. Please note too that the discharge chutes were only fixed temporarily, to allow further assessment, so are not quite straight.

The model is shown in the later all-blue livery, but members will see that the transfer sheet includes markings for this variant and the original livery. The kit also includes parts to enable the wagons to be built with the cut down ends for Tunstead traffic.

As can be seen the decal sheet will include the Railtrack stripe and branding as one to ensure painting is a simple as possible, while complete TOPS panels are included for more than twenty separate wagons, including generator and non generator versions.

On the prototype, these vehicles run in fixed five wagon rakes (Generator-Inner-Inner-Inner-Outer) with buffers on each end of the outer wagons only. Decals include complete TOPS panels for four full rakes. This version is moulded in yellow, though painting is recommended.
